In Godot 3 there is no decals node yet, so I used a shader from @TheGreatMasterJ , with a little customization on the alpha channel to add blood detail to the character's surface.

One detail of facial expressions is that the eyes always lock onto an object. When the head turns, the eyes will quickly shift focus or blink to ignore it.

In this scene, Delwyn's head is ripped off by Emlyn. After his head is removed, he continues to move erratically. This idea was inspired by the film Jeepers Creepers 2.
