I got back again into TCGs pretty late, around 2024, obv with Pokémon. I was enjoying it, but something always felt a bit off for me, too much money driven plus everything inflated by the newer Gens.

Then I got completely caught by the OnePiece TCG and everything changed, not just because of TCG itself, but because of what One Piece already meant to me. It started the same year I was born and during COVID, it was one of the few things that genuinely kept me going while I was alone at home after the bar where I was working had to shut down.
I got in early, last year spring before the market really exploded, and started picking up cards I actually loved not for the money, but for what they represented.

Now a lot of those cards have gone up a lot and it just feels different when you’re not chasing profit, you actually believe in what you’re buying 🏴‍☠️👒☠️

- At Mid May = Claims projected this week

Same shit happened to me in November during Utrecht regional, me with Bonney G against Zoro G. My last turn, oppo passed at 10 secs from the end with 2 cards, 1 life and 0 blockers while I had Shanks c9 and Doffy c10 on the field (plus leader and 10 don) so was a win mathematically but oppo decided to think about how to counter my shanks attack for the rest of the time with the judge literally watching us. He spent all the remaining time to think about how to counter a 11k with 2 cards in hand and 0 Don opened, then the judge called time and asked him “if he could block it” but obv he couldn’t so he took his last life with the judge that didnt let me end the turn and so ended losing for number of cards in the deck (25 cards vs 24 🤦‍♂️)
