I usually don’t comment on Pakistani politics. I disagree with IK on many political issues. But this is not about politics- it’s about my children’s father, his human rights & international law. For the past few years, I’ve been bullied & harassed into silence by PML-N goons, including rape threats & countless conspiracy theories. Meanwhile Twitter/ X is banned in Pakistan, PTI party members & civilian supporters have been abducted, anyone with a platform who was speaking out is now in jail & silenced, Imran Khan’s photo and name have been censored on state television (they have even redacted his image from any coverage of Pakistan’s World Cup win of 92!)
I owe it to my children to try to create some awareness about what is happening in Pakistan. Please help in any way that you can. Thank you.

In the last few weeks there have been serious and concerning developments regarding my sons’ father, Imran Khan’s treatment in prison. The Pakistan authorities have stopped all visits to him by his family and his lawyers. They have also postponed all court hearings. In addition to cutting off in- person visits, and in defiance of a court order, his weekly calls to his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, who are British and who live in London, were stopped on 10th September. We have received reports that the authorities have now turned off the lights and electricity in his cell and he is no longer allowed to leave his cell at any time. The jail cook has been sent on leave. He is now completely isolated, in solitary confinement, literally in the dark, with no contact with the outside world. His lawyers are concerned about his safety and well-being.

These actions come in the context of ongoing targeting of Imran’s family, as well as his party (PTI) members and supporters in an attempt to silence them and all political opposition in Pakistan. Imran’s nephew, Hassan Niazi, a civilian, has been detained in military custody since August 2023. More recently, Imran Khan’s sisters, Uzma and Aleema Khan, who have continued to speak out on his behalf, have also been arrested as they made their way peacefully to a demonstration and they are currently being held in jail, despite there being no proper or lawful basis for their imprisonment.

In June this year the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found that Imran is unlawfully and arbitrarily detained and called for his immediate release.

 As a matter of urgency , we are calling for Imran Khan’s release, and for the release of his sisters and nephew as well as for his sons’ contact with their father to be re-established, so that they may have assurance first-hand that he is well and not being mistreated.

Congratulations to Pakistan's Olympic flag bearer Arshad Nadeem for an absolute brilliant javelin performance winning a gold medal for Pakistan.

His persistence & perseverance has done him & the nation proud. It is the first time any Pakistani has won an individual gold for athletics in the Olympics. He is an inspiration for our younger generation.

تنخواہ والے دن دفتر میں کام کرنے والے بابو کو جب تنخواہ ملی تو وہ اپنی تنخواہ وصول کرنے کے بعد دفتر سے چھٹی کرکے نکلا اور گھر جانے کے لیے مسافروں سے بھری بس میں سوار ہوگیا۔

اسی بس میں ایک جیب کترا تھا جس نے اس کی جیب مار کر ساری تنخواہ اڑا لی۔

جب بس کنڈیکٹر نے ٹکٹ کے لیے پیسوں کا پوچھا تو بابو نے جیب میں ہاتھ ڈالا تو جیب کو خالی پاکر اس شریف شخص کا چہرہ ندامت کے مارے سرخ ہو گیا اور زبان لڑکھڑانے لگی۔
بس کنڈیکٹر نے اسے طنزیہ انداز میں کہا
" بلا ٹکٹ سفر کرنے پر تمھیں شرم آنی چاہیے ،ظاہری حلیے سے دیکھنے میں تو تم معزز شخص لگتے ہو، مگر تمھاری جیب میں پھوٹی کوڑی بھی نہیں ہے"۔
جیب کترا جو پاس ہی کھڑا تھا، اس نے کنڈیکٹر کے کندھے پر ہاتھ مارا اور کنڈیکٹر سے کہا
" میرے بھائی، اس شریف شخص کا تمسخر اڑانا بند کرو، اس کے ٹکٹ کی قیمت میں ادا کروں گا"۔
یہ سن کر بابو نے خدا کا شکر ادا کیا اور مسکرا کر جیب کترے سے کہا؛
"خدا آپ کو خوش رکھے اور آپ جیسے لوگوں کے کاروبار میں خوب ترقی دے ،کیونکہ آپ جیسے ہی معاشرے کے حقیقی ہمدرد لوگ ہیں جو مصیبت میں مبتلا لوگوں کا خیال رک��تے ہیں"

کسی اجنبی پر مہربانی کا یہ منظر دیکھ کر بس کے مسافر بھی اس چور کے اعلیٰ اخلاق کی تعریف کرنے کے ساتھ اُس کے لیے دعا کرنے لگے، کہ خُدا اس مہربان شخص کے کاروبار میں برکت عطا فرمائے اور اُس جیسے لوگوں کا معاشرے میں اضافہ ہو۔

آج کل ہم اپنے اردگرد ہر جگہ جتنے بھی چور اچکے دیکھتے ہیں یہ سب ہماری لاعلمی میں کی گئی دعاؤں کا نتیجہ ہیں ،کیونکہ اس کے بعد سے چوروں کی تعداد میں خوب اضافہ ہوا ،اور اب وہ چوری بھی کرتے ہیں اور ساتھ ہم سے شکریہ اور تعریف بھی وصول کرتے ہیں۔

چور ترقی کرتے کرتے کہاں سے کہاں پہنچ گئے ہیں اور ہم ابھی تک بس میں کھڑے لٹ رہے ہیں اور چوروں کا شکریہ ادا کرتے ہوئے ،ان کی ترقی کے لیے دل سے دعائیں بھی مانگ رہے ہیں!! "
