It's navigating export regulations, meeting certification standards, accessing finance, understanding new markets, and building the right intra-Africa trade networks. These barriers often make regional expansion feel out of reach.

Yet, Africa is changing.

With the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), young businesses have an unprecedented opportunity to reach one of the world's largest integrated markets. The challenge is no longer whether the opportunity exists—it's whether enterprises are equipped to seize it.

Recognizing this, YouthConnekt Africa has reimagined its Export Accelerator (E-Accelerator). Building on the lessons from previous cohorts, the programme has been completely revamped to move beyond seminars and workshops into a results-driven accelerator that prepares youth-led enterprises to compete, trade, and grow across African markets.

Developed in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the African Union, the revamped E-Accelerator is designed for revenue-generating, youth-led enterprises that are ready to expand beyond their domestic markets. Through export readiness diagnostics, one-on-one business advisory, compliance support, export accreditation and improved access to finance, the programme equips entrepreneurs with the tools needed to scale confidently across borders.

Youth Advisory Council member Abdoul Afize Ouedraogo attended the Youth Continental Dialogue on Building Youth Capacities for Peace, Digital Integrity, and Countering Harmful Narratives, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The dialogue brought together 31 young leaders from across Africa, alongside representatives from UNDP, IGAD, and the African Union, to discuss the role of young people in fostering peace and strengthening digital resilience across the continent.

During the first day, participants exchanged experiences from their respective countries on digital literacy and digital integrity, highlighting both challenges and opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. Discussions also focused on the growing impact of misinformation and disinformation, as well as innovative initiatives being implemented across Africa to counter hate speech, prevent violence, and promote responsible digital engagement.

Abdoul's participation reflects the Youth Advisory Council's commitment to ensuring that young people remain at the forefront of shaping solutions to some of the continent's most pressing challenges. Through dialogue, collaboration, and shared learning, African youth continue to play a critical role in building a more peaceful, informed, and connected future.

YOUTHCONNEKT CAMEROON IN MAY 2026

🚀 5 days. 60 young people. 3 regions. 1000 opportunities.
As part of its mission to promote youth entrepreneurship, employability, and leadership, YouthConnekt Cameroon continues to organize zonal bootcamps across the country.

The recent Centre-South-East Zonal Bootcamp and Challenge, held in Kribi from May 08 to 12, 2026, brought together young entrepreneurs and leaders for activities focused on capacity building, innovation, and project development. This edition also marked:

The official closing of the zonal bootcamp;
The installation of the regional chambers of YouthConnekt ambassadors;
as well as the recognition of Youth Entrepreneurship Icons.

Participants competed in various entrepreneurial challenges, helping identify the best talents who will represent their regions during the grand finale scheduled for the YouthConnekt Cameroon Convention in December in Yaoundé.

Furthermore, within the YouthConnekt Job component, a call for applications for the 2026 academic and professional internship program was launched with the support of the United Nations in Cameroon.

This initiative aims to strengthen youth employability, enrich their academic journeys, and provide them with professional experience aligned with labor market expectations.

Through these initiatives, YouthConnekt Cameroon reaffirms its commitment to supporting a new generation of young leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs capable of actively contributing to the development of Cameroon and the African continent.
