Byram was an absolute stud at 17 in his draft year. Led Van to WHL final Game 7 v. an experienced Prince Albert team.

I’m always intrigued how people assume the #4 pick this year will be so much better than Byram.

I bet he thrives in Chicago. Run the PP. Will move puck up to Bedard and other skilled forwards. He was 21st in 5x5 scoring last year. More next year. Very competitive player. Chicago can’t keep waiting for youth. He’s only 25. Has won a Cup and will boost Chicago’s blueline.

The suggestions this is a terrible trade seems to be based solely on the overrating of what #4 could be, and usually player doesn’t reach the outlandish expectation.
