If you want to understand more about the NHS crisis, why NHS staff are going on strike, and how you can help support us, take 30 minutes this weekend to listen to this brilliant interview with my friend @DrRitaIssa.

The Chairman of the Tory Party is very clear: people on income support or low wages; nurses, teachers, traffic wardens, rubbish collectors, cleaners, cashiers should not be able to afford to heat their homes. This is what they are.
Liz Truss has literally chosen to prioritise tax cuts for the ultra rich over ensuring disabled people do not starve and freeze this winter.
It’s obscene.
Important and timely piece from Keep Our NHS Public member, @JatinderHayre_
We already have 132,000 NHS vacancies; recognizing the worth and the efforts of staff is absolutely essential to the future of the NHS #NHSPayRise https://t.co/aSn58re5rz
I’m going to the #EnoughIsEnough protest tomorrow.
A patient today - an NHS worker - was forced to pull together savings to seek private healthcare because he’d been waiting too long in pain. It felt humiliating. My colleagues are leaving, this work is unsustainable and draining
How about filling in the massive shortage in NHS staffing by reducing staff burnout and attrition, increasing pay, bursaries/ scholarships for training, scrapping the skilled worker minim salary for migrants, stop targeted attack on primary care, etc etc
Next week the #NHS Health and Care Bill is back in Parliament
The government spin machine has very smart messaging to lessen public outrage and pass the bill through by stealth
The proposed measures should be DEEPLY concerning for everyone who needs or might need healthcare
I’m going on the @GuiltFemPod (😱!!) to speak about the Health and Care Bill that’s - pretty quietly - making it’s way through parliament and set to upturn the NHS
You can watch the recording live (!) on Monday, or listen after
Plus, there’s funny people on it!
I want to see simple, low key measures like mandatory masks, home working and social distancing brought back ASAP to (a) protect society’s vulnerable members from Covid & (b) help the NHS carry on caring for all our non-Covid patients.
Please RT if you do too.
Just 2 weeks after the Netherlands relaxes covid rules, cases are doubling every 48 hours, events are cancelled & restrictions back on
Hope the UK soon realises that 'freedom' looks like wearing a mask, socialising outside and a lockdown-free August
Happy International Nurses Day to our tireless, badass, thoughtful, smart nurses.
Especially remembering those who have given their lives on the frontline.
The NHS is nothing without you. You deserve so much more than this government 💙

Under a coherent, comprehensive public health strategy, everybody will have access to the covid-19 vaccine. For individuals and our communities, let's remove the barriers to doing so 👉
