I’ve accepted the challenge of not using single use plastic in July. I know there will be some that I can’t avoid (e.g. medication blister packs).
I’m going to collect all the plastic that I can’t avoid in July to see how much there is. #GoPlasticFree
When it comes to tackling the #ClimateEmergency how you vote matters more than where you go on your holidays.
Absurd tax payer subsidies to make it cheaper to fly to London than to take the train are decisions taken by governments & they can only be changed by governments.
“The world’s people face “untold suffering due to the climate crisis” unless there are major transformations to global society, according to a stark warning from more than 11,000 scientists.”

.@mvmorton: “The government needs to take more action than it’s taking - for me, and for future generations. That’s why I’m at today’s #ClimateStrike”
Mary’s also a member of Friends of the Earth Scotland - just sayin’...
On September 20th we are asking the adults to join us. This is their chance to help fix the problem that the older generations have created.
We don't want you to applaud us or to tell us we're going to save the world. We want you to strike with us in September. @GretaThunberg
Having been brought up on a dairy farm I can’t believe that I’ve now swapped to oat milk. Thanks @iastruthers for the recommendation & encouragement.
Day 31 of #PlasticFreeJuly#GoPlasticFree (a bit late due to a migraine). This is my non recyclable single use plastic for the month which by this time next year will be a lot smaller. I’m off to find a bottle to make it into an eco brick.
Day 30 #PlasticFreeJuly#GoPlasticFree already wash at a low temperature but also going to swap from tablets to washing liquid as this helps to reduce the micro plastic released from fabrics. Checking if a Guppybag is a good idea too.
Day 29 #PlasticFreeJuly#GoPlasticFree instead of boxes of chocolates & sweets I’ve swapped to yogurt or chocolate covered raisins & nuts which I buy loose.
Day 28 #PlasticFreeJuly#GoPlasticFree I found this jar in a charity shop for £1. My neighbours kindly use it for their cigarette butts & I empty it weekly into the communal bin. Also saves me having to pick these butts up on my weekly litter pick.
