@BBCNewsNI My mum was given months to live, after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. After 40 years in civil service , she had just retired, passed away and she didn’t see the state pension, my dad seen very little of her csp, for my dad I feel this is so wrong. Shame on the govt!

@RupertLowe10 In NI we don’t reap the benefits for childcare. In England they get 30 free hours, we get equivalent funding through Barnett but our executive choose to spend it elsewhere. (Would love to know where)? 🤪 Parents now pay over £70 per day for childcare.🤯Where is the money?

Over £70 a day here per child. 🙈 Including unpaid care is a slap in the face for those of us who’ve had to walk away from our jobs!!!! Decisions should not be made on that data.

@C_Fitz_ IMO - Informal care should not form part of the results regarding average cost of childcare, a correction has to be made and the results republished, decisions should not be made based on this data. 📊 🦄🤦🏻‍♀️

@C_Fitz_ From someone who’s had to walk away from full time work because of the extortionate cost of childcare and lack of family support I find this a survey a slap in the face. What a farce. It no way reflects the true average cost and decisions should not be based on this rubbish 💔😔

@C_Fitz_ Not sure it’s a reflection on reality. I note an average cost of £630 per month in the report, here it is over £70 a day. Over £1400 a month for one child. Simple maths if you have 2 = working a full time job makes no sense in NI!! Back to the kitchen sink 🤪

@moneillsf But some of us had to give up our jobs as we cant afford to work with extortionate childcare, stormont has failed mother’s - fact. Long ago people fought for our right to work and now we are being forced back to the kitchen sink. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@BBCNewsNI It’s no shock to struggling NI parents. I know Nurses/teachers have left NI jobs to work in the south, for huge salary increases, some work fewer days per week, moved their children out of nurseries in NI to ROI & save 10,000 PA on childcare.Can you blame them! @MeltedParentsNI

Not an April fool - the childcare crisis is just too serious to make jokes about.

NICSS and tax free childcare takes this down to £30,584 - this just is not enough - the average salary in Northern Ireland is £34,378.

@moneillsf Women here are leaving their careers in their droves because childcare costs are out of control, Stormont must do better. If you want equal opportunity why aren’t parents in NI receiving equal support to parents in England, that comes through Barnett…where is that money going?
