📣 Over 100,000 people are employed across the UK civil nuclear industry for the first time in history 👷♀️
Today the Nuclear Industry Association launched our 2026 Jobs Map. This year’s figures show a 67% growth in the civil nuclear workforce over the past five years, from 61,371 jobs in 2021 to a record 102,606 in 2026. 📈
🏗️ This unprecedented employment has been driven by construction at Hinkley Point C and decisive government investment in @sizewellc, as well as the development of Europe’s first Small Modular Reactors with Project Gwyndod in North Wales.
The Government must now ensure the swift implementation of nuclear regulation reform, to unlock future projects and continue this monumental growth of the nuclear workforce.

Cross-party support for new nuclear in Scotland on display in Parliament ⚛️
@mpsusanmurray, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Scotland, led a Westminster Hall debate on the future of nuclear energy in Scotland, highlighting the strong cross-party support for new nuclear.
Contributions highlighted the jobs and investment opportunities the sector could bring, alongside the need for reliable, clean baseload power. @Jamie4North made the case for new nuclear at Scotland’s former nuclear sites, @DLumsden_MP highlighted public support, and @melanie_ward, Minister for Scotland, underlined why nuclear should be part of Scotland’s future, not just its past.
It was fantastic to see figures from the Nuclear Industry Association’s 2026 Civil Nuclear Jobs Map referenced throughout the debate.
Thank you to the MPs who contributed to the lively debate. We will continue to champion new nuclear in Scotland and the opportunities it can deliver for communities across the country.

📣 Today marks a historic new chapter for Hinkley Point B as the nuclear power station is transferred from @edfenergy to the @NDAgovuk group for decommissioning.
Hinkley Point B was the most productive clean power asset in UK history when it finished, generating:
📈 £15bn worth of economic value to the UK
⚡ Enough electricity to power every home in the South West for 33 years
🏭 Low-carbon electricity which avoided 108m tonnes of CO2 emissions
To deliver the safe, secure decommissioning of the site with @NRServicesUK’ knowledge and expertise, 250 well-paid, skilled jobs will remain in the local community.

"Just imagine, just imagine where Britain could be today if we had moved faster. If we had invested earlier. If we had taken more control."
Yesterday at the Labour Party Conference @Miatsf, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, celebrated the significant growth of the UK civil nuclear industry, which now employs 102,606 people across the UK. ⚛️
🏗️ To build on this momentum, we need the Nuclear Regulation Bill to proceed at pace, to modernise our fragmented nuclear oversight, reduce project costs, and speed up construction.

47,492 new nuclear jobs in England since 2014. Just 661 in Scotland. That’s the stark reality of the jobs gap created by Scotland’s ban on new nuclear. 👷♀️
⚛️ Without the ban, Scotland’s nuclear workforce could have grown at the same rate as England’s, creating over 5,000 high-skilled, high-paid jobs and valuable training opportunities for the next generation.
Instead, Torness Nuclear Power Station, Scotland’s single most productive, clean and reliable source of electricity, is set to cease generation in 2030. With no nuclear replacement, Scotland will face job losses, and local communities will miss out. 📉
If you want to see the ban on new nuclear lifted, bringing new jobs, billions in investment and energy security to Scotland, write to your MSP today: 📝 https://t.co/1UpsTAMSAv

Major Government-backed projects are driving the UK’s record number of highly skilled, well-paid civil nuclear jobs. 👇
🏗️ @sizewellc will create 17,000 direct and indirect jobs, including 1,500 apprentices
⚛️ @GBNgovuk’s development of @RollsRoyce SMR's on Ynys Môn is set to create a further 8,000 jobs across the UK, including 3,000 locally.
📈 And in just five years, Hinkley Point C has helped drive a 163.6% increase in nuclear employment across the South-West, taking the region’s total to 34,084 jobs.
Behind these significant numbers are the people turning these major nuclear projects into reality. 🎥 Hear about what working in civil nuclear has given them and their local community below.
