#NRCNews: We've finalized a rule that streamlines licensing for reactor designs tested by @ENERGY or @DeptofWar making NRC reviews more efficient. https://t.co/NCgerUESa5
It was a pleasure hosting @ANS_org President Mark Peters at our Reactor Demonstration Campus in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, this week.
Dr. Peters met with Kairos Power staff members and got a firsthand look at the progress we’re making on Hermes 2, which will deliver up to 50 MW of reliable power to the @TVAnews grid to help power @Google data centers.
Congrats to Finland on licensing the world's first used fuel repository! @Posiva_fi and the people of Eurajoki have blazed a trail for the rest of the world to follow in nuclear energy. 🇫🇮⚛️
🥇 A historic world first! Finland grants #Posiva the first operating licence for spent nuclear fuel final disposal. Over 40 years of work have paid off. Commissioning continues, with safety first.

Biggest news in safe nuclear waste disposal ever!
"This is the first operating license anywhere in the world granted for the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel."
Huge congrats to Finland for finally answering the question and implementing the solution.

Happy Birthday, Niels Bohr!
Born on this day in 1885, Bohr is famous for his revolutionary theory on atomic structures and radiation emission.
Bohr’s atomic model explains that electrons orbit the nucleus at certain distances. When an electron changes orbits, a light quantum is emitted. Photons are emitted as a result of the energy difference between the initial and final orbit. Bohr's theory could explain why atoms emit light in fixed wavelengths. Thanks to his fundamental contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory, Bohr received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922.
In 1954, Bohr helped to establish the European Organization for Nuclear Research, and in 1955, he put together the Atoms for Peace Conference. Bohr received the Atoms for Peace Award in 1957 for his continuous efforts to call for peaceful applications of atomic energy.
Indian Point opponents promised that hydro power from Quebec would supply as much electricity as one of the units.
That new source of supply needed a transmission line. After many delays, the line is now in service - roughly 5 years after the last electricity from Indian Point NPP was supplied to the grid.
But…. Hydro Quebec is supplying something less than 20% of the promised power. The deal approved by NYSERDA includes many loopholes that allow Hydro Quebec to keep its “abundant” power whenever it needs it.
A recent series of papers suggested that nuclear power plants are responsible for more than 100 thousand cancers. Using their method, every landmark we tested causes cancer,

This year’s theme: From Technology to Flight.
I’m serving as Technical Co-Chair and especially encourage submissions on industrial base, upcoming flights, workforce development, and AI in space nuclear.
Last week we welcomed Dr. Mark Peters, president of @ANS_org, to BWXT. We shared updates on the BWXT Advanced Nuclear Reactor (BANR) and the recent Janus announcement, the progress on the Project Pele reactor and capabilities and potential across space nuclear.
Conversations like these help bring together leaders from across the nuclear industry to exchange ideas, strengthen collaborations, and explore how we can continue advancing nuclear innovation.

This is the thrilling next chapter in microreactor development. This kind of early customer is exactly the kind of thing that can help propel a reactor program through the high-capital valley. Good luck to all five companies!
