Some possible reasons for the mass, unfettered migrations from France to the UK - at 50k/year are as follows?:

The French do not put illegal migrants up in 4-5 star hotels, the UK does. The French deport and finger print check anyone on the EURODAC list, the UK does not. The French do not give automatic residency to Albanians claiming to be asylum seekers, the UK does, sending only 18% back - including those 1.5k who've served prison time in there, since last year.
