‘OUR YOUNGEST HERO’ 🥺💗
The Asian Hospital and Medical Center honored baby Aniela, the country’s youngest organ donor, who helped another child gain eyesight.
She was born with anencephaly, a rare condition where a baby’s brain and skull do not fully develop.
“Her mother, Karina, knew from the start that her daughter’s time would be heartbreakingly short lived. Yet, in the midst of unimaginable pain, Karina chose to turn loss into life — by donating Aniela’s eyes to give others the chance to see,” the hospital’s post on Friday read.
Through Aniela’s corneal donation, nine-year-old Nikki, born blind due to congenital glaucoma, now sees the world.
“Aniela’s short but meaningful life continues to inspire. She is remembered as the country’s youngest organ donor, a symbol of hope, generosity, and love,” they added. (Facebook/Asian Hospital and Medical Center)
