I do find the condescension towards Burnham from much of the British political establishment both striking and funny. He’s actually one of the most experienced incoming PMs we’ve had, about which much is known. You’d think all he’d ever done was run a parish council.
Community's Head of Equalities Jennifer Dean spoke to our #StrongUnionStrongFuture Conference about how equality is both a workplace issue, and a trade union issue.
In her speech, Jennifer highlighted Community's growing number of Equalities Reps, as well as important partnerships with organisations like the National Centre for Domestic Violence across the UK in tackling discrimination.

"I have to say – and I hope you all agree – what a fantastic week it’s been. We’ve had some excellent and passionate debates, which will help to shape the work that we will be doing together over the next 2 years."
Our General Secretary Roy Rickhuss spoke to close our 2026 #StrongUnionStrongFuture Conference.
Thank you to all delegates and guests in attendance for contributing to a great week in Newport

I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It is the principal source of success in life.
50 years ago, Jim Callaghan delivered a speech at Ruskin on the future of education.
Today, I'm doing the same.
High-quality early years education is how we close the disadvantage gap. Expanding it to those who need is most is the future of education.

Being on the NEC means taking hard decisions - and the right ones. Yesterday officers decided that Labour should not stand a candidate in the faux byelection in Claction.
Farage can spend the next six weeks explaining to the voters of Clacton why he failed to declare donations.
I’ve always believed that people deserve a Labour choice at an election, but I’m glad we’re not taking part in Farage’s Clacton clown show.
He’s subject to the same rules as every other MP - he just whinges when he’s held to those same standards.
Caroline Taylor, our National Secretary for Finance spoke on the launch of our #FairFutureForFinance campaign, and our Responsible AI Charter.
We're proud to be shaping the future of the finance sector, and fighting to protect our members from being replaced by AI. 👇

At our #StrongUnionStrongFuture conference, National Secretary for Justice Gavin Miller laid bare the severe risks faced by front line justice, custodial and immigration workers on a daily basis.
Through our #KeepUsSafe campaign, Community is demanding the safer staffing levels, resources and protections needed to fix an overcrowded system. It’s time to protect those who keep us safe. ✊

Defence partners always… football opponents occasionally!
Great to see my Norwegian counterpart @toreosa to discuss our defence and security partnership which is stronger than ever.
Whatever happens on the pitch on Saturday, the friendship between our countries will endure.
