@Thuminnoo step #1 is to recognize and admit that this is the reality, then it becomes easy to see why one isn't as questionable/harmful as the other. thing is, a LOT of ppl aren't even at step #1, whether that's from them simply being unaware, or confused, or of course being bigots.

@Thuminnoo they just perpetually pretend that our society isn't steeped in specifically anti-blackness & colorism. prejudice against lighter skin poc exists of course, and even against white ppl, but both are relatively less present, w/ the latter having little meaningful/historical weight

@zjones2346 @LinkofSunshine exactly. it's not good we act so ashamed or offended by natural bodies and are so judgmental of others' bodies. but we have an uphill battle to shift ppl's mindsets there. lotta ppl happy to make nasty comments on other's bodies and parts for "not looking good enough"

@LinkofSunshine we're simultaneously in a time of heightened sexual imagery in culture AND a hard-to-ignore prudishness towards even non-sexual nudity. the solution is a finer approach to sexual education, but (of a few things) conservative/religious norms stand in the way of it

@ConeOfArc who knows the specific dynamics of the situation(s?) she's referring to; it's not a wholly unfair statement. but it's also bringing forth a lot of understandable grievances guys have about trying to approach, cuz her wording kinda reads like a "men in general r so annoying" thing

@ChooHeavenly @Fantasy63ar @Demonking1YT is it justified because "well, black ppl in these spaces can be so bad!"? but would it really JUST be from black ppl's behavior and that alone that you reach such a perception? but of course you'd be reluctant to even consider otherwise; why wouldn't u? society tells you so.
