Watching the world lose its mind, while people I know still seem perfectly normal.
I look at CT scans of people's abdomens almost every day. I can assure you, there's no such thing as big boned. People definitely carry fat differently, so the health consequences of being obese or even modestly overweight can vary quite a bit, but BMI is a pretty good metric.
I am unhealthily fat before I even hit "overweight" BMI.
Another way to look at this: Does having a guy facilitate the existance of electric self-driving cars, global high-speed internet, reusable rockets, restoration of muscle function and vision to the disabled, etc, represent a good value in exchange for a one-time payment of $100 per human?
The people who actually gave him the money thought so. I'd say it's a pretty fair deal.
Now run this experiment with a variety of government programs and see where you think the Musk money ranks. If you still think he's "stealing" or unjustly enriched then... I dunno, I can't help you.
@EdMarkey Hate to break it to you, but when you have money, then you give it to someone else in exchange for value they provide, it becomes their money.
That's literally what money is.
@Fat_Electrician If we taxed these people *fairly* we'd be in even deeper shit with government overspending. But no one likes it when fair means equal.
*Yes, I understand satire. I'm just saying...
@jasonrantz Is she the one that came up with the "cage match" thing that all the left media has been running with? I started noticing it a few days ago.
@krassenstein So they fixed it and it didn't change the look of it? That's a relief. I mean, I guess we'll see once the water chemistry rebalances and summer algae blooms die back a bit. I was afraid it was going to look stupid, but maybe it's going to work out well.
Spending a couple thousand a year on catastrophic insurance and putting 5k annually in an HSA (which you can't actually do due to the ACA) would put people *way* ahead vs. spending a couple thousand, my employer spending 10k, and *still* putting 5k a year in an HSA. How is our healthcare so insanely expensive? I've got stories...
@RutileBlue1@BretWeinstein Duuuude. I can't figure out precisely what parts are satire. In case anyone is looking for evidence of what's changed since 2001.
@RoKhanna Is stealing money from people worth it?
What if they have a lot of money?
Okay, okay, what if the people stealing the money have no idea how money works and they're only stealing it to keep their national Ponzi scheme afloat for a few more weeks?
Not to mention the overwhelming majority of that money *doesn't exist*. Of course the dollar is now backed solely by "the full faith and credit of the United States", so... vibes.
Also, how many majority shareholders, of a company they created, that is generating great value and wealth for themselves, literally tell people "don't buy the stock at this price, it's way overvalued". And then he gets blamed when people *keep giving him more money*?
@MarcoFoster_ I feel like even the most misanthropic, vicious, psychopathically totalitarian commie listening to this would be like: "Well... I mean... we all hate him with the burning power of a thousand suns, but damn brother, you just sound like a blithering idiot."
@herewego8745@MorosKostas Nice respond and block bot # @herewego8745
Except people not only read, but understand English. Lawyers, especially, understand what "may" means.
@herewego8745@MorosKostas@Anniebeth1976 Nice that they have a document explaining, step by step, exactly how anyone can vote in the state without confirmation of eligibility or identity.
@sunnkssdseraph I don't know about safely, but they're oppressed, so are allowed to do what they want with their own body. Non-oppressed people can't make those decisions for themselves because the experts know what's best for them.
Not "hearing". It's not like the experience of literally hearing a voice. Just like picturing something in your mind isn't like "seeing things". Some of the same parts of your brain must be active, but it's not like your entire visual system is involved. I honestly think this entire debate is just people misunderstanding what is being discussed. It doesn't seem possible that any normal person doesn't have the experience of thinking with language. How would I even write this without thinking the words I'm going to type? I think everyone probably varies on how frequent and under what conditions it's operating, but I don't believe this "half of people don't have an internal monologue" thing.
Half the people listening to stuff like this literally believe that the United States is currently loading up cargo planes with illegal immigrants, flying to the middle of the Atlantic, Pinochet-ing them out the back and flying back home.
Lack of good information helped fuel atrocities throughout human history. Inability to parse floods of information is going to be the next challenge to overcome before we can move forward from here.
The only way for the clock to say 8:45pm at sunset, in December, in the US, (roughly speaking) is if you move it four hours fast. So the clock will say 4pm at midday, and sunrise happens at 12 "noon".
Why is the tilt of the earth and the *literally unavoidable seasonal changes to day length* so hard for people to understand? Yes, *please*, End DST.
You can't change the sun by pretending it's a different time.
Yeah, I don't know if lying, deception, and misrepresentation to solicit and increase purportedly charitable donations under false pretenses is protected speech. Let me guess, "hate speech" isn't protected, but lying for financial gain - as long as it's radical leftists doing it - is constitutionally protected. *But* taking out a loan and paying it back to a happy lender is a crime if a prosecutor doesn't like you and thinks they can make a case that the terms were irregular.
