The wild story of UPS driver Nick Barrett's DQ in Maryland.
Nick makes birdie on 18 to complete his first round and shot 73 (+2). He has about 50 people watching him. As he walks off the green his Dad gives him a high five and they go down to the patio area to get something to eat.
They are down there for 15-20 mins and then start to get ready for his second round which has a 15 minute delay. At that point Barrett realizes he has his card still in his pocket.
He goes to scoring as soon as he discovers it and is informed that because the next group had turned in their card already he was DQ'd.
Barrett goes and tells his caddie and the pair goes back to scoring to plead their case. To no avail. DQ'd.
I spoke w Barrett and he took full responsibility for it. Said he got caught up in the excitement with so many people and just forgot. Just a total brain fart.
I asked if anyone from his group or the tournament team came to look for him. He wasn't sure, or they didn't find him. Although Nick says he was at the Patio the entire time and just 150-200 yards from scoring.
Yes he broke the rule, and by the book he's DQ'd, but seems like maybe the group or officials could have found him and avoided this.

Watching early coverage in the RV, and I really wish @NBCGolf could effort a live match update up on screen consistently. Maybe a ticker at the bottom of the screen or scoring column on right side of the screen?
