Just a friendly guy who occasionally does art as a hobby | Biology student | Paleontology enthusiast (usually too shy to discuss anything) | 21 y.o. | He/Him
Decided to add more information to the image itself. So people (hopefully) won’t be confused by the Guanlong without a big and beautiful crest
And it’s also another opportunity to draw some attention to this specimen)

Had another wave of productivity for unimportant stuff so here’s a personal take on Beotodus with an idea that it’s still a wyvern and not an actual fish with wyvern characteristics. Definitely wasn’t my comfort zone. Hopefully you all like it

Apart from not so serious description a piece of fan art I’d like to use as a first step into my art of a New Year. Helps me stay motivated, you know

Originally wanted to improve my knowledge of snake skulls, but then I saw a paper describing Eoconstrictor barnesi. Had to really assemble bones myself for the first time and result looks alright(?)

@gibbon_aha Same. Though in this case they provided good enough evidence to support new species. It’s not always the case, unfortunately. Although it must be said that taxonomic position of such species are far from set in stone even if they’re well supported by comparative anatomy
“Newly” described falcon from Argentina. Might be a record in how quickly I managed to reconstruct it. Might be manic episode kicking in. But overall enjoyed drawing it a lot! Hopefully, now this genus will have something for its Wiki page haha

Btw. Gonna keep mirroring my tumblr here for a while since there were people under previous post who asked me to stay (and I’m really grateful for that). But if anything happens you can always find my art on tumblr and deviant art (for High res download if someone needs it)
Well, decided to finally leave Twitter for good. As a last post decided to leave this reconstruction of recently described stem gecko from Morrison. This work helped me recover a lot quicker but I’m not sure it’s a final revision

Barely post here nowadays (for obvious reasons), but recently was inspired to illustrate a post on why snakes don’t exactly see heat, but rather “feel” it the same way we feel moving objects before consciously noticing them. Hopefully it’ll be helpful despite simplicity

@Pomster20 Agreed. Which is why I’m not a fan of it just being lumped with ability to see. Yeah, this sense plays part in moving head towards something warm, but it’s so much more fascinating than just a layer of infrared gradient over image from retina like it’s usually portrayed
@Majora__Z … since information about infrared radiation never gets into their visual cortex as far as literature goes. I hope that somewhat explains my illustration
And no problem. All my scientific illustrations are under CC BY-SA because it makes the most sense to me
@Majora__Z information as more layers than from visual pathway. Mostly because it may actually be more informative for brain than actual image of the object in deciding how to respond to certain stimuli. And as for snake image it’s just an image from retina …
Sorry. Forgot about Twitter compression making pathways barely visible, so hopefully individual shots will be better at showing them (separate legend so you don’t have to swap between messages)
It‘s been a while since I did any paleo-art. Recently, ornithology was my passion so it’s not that surprising that I picked a bird for reconstruction (also there’re not that many skeletals for birds, so might as well contribute)
As usual, feel free to correct me
