I can imagine an alt history where 3dfx Voodoo2 had some tweaks for a higher precision signed math mode instead of bilinear filtering, along with a full ring SLI interconnect, and the deep learning / computer vision takeoff started in '98. 8x Voodoo2 in a PCI chassis!
