My dad died last week, living his Catholic faith to the very end. I was invited to write about him by retired Cincinnati Post and Cincinnati Enquirer columnist, Paul Daugherty in PD’s The Morning Line space. Thank you, @EnquirerDoc.

@mattswaim Agree. We should pump brakes if ever the phrase "one-stop shopping" is used in any context when it comes to conception/unborn babies/human life. Actually, slam on brakes.
@ABChiyoda@AbbyJohnson Nah. If we did that, the world's greatest gift--children--wouldn't be possible. You do know how it all works, don't you?
Men AND women...don't sleep around/have sex with whomever. If you do, be responsible and accept potential consequences. Don't murder a baby. EasyPeasy.
@BatikE@AbbyJohnson Because the baby is dependent upon another for growth and nourishment while connected to that person in pregnancy doesn't give the that person the right to have that baby killed. The baby continues to depend upon others after birth, too. Dependence doesn't mean we can kill.
@ABChiyoda@AbbyJohnson Nope. She's sick to her soul sorry about what she did because she doesn't believe the lie anymore. She knows now that a separate human being--the tiniest, most defenseless of all--is inside a woman during pregnancy. Keep spreading the word, Abby!
Imagine having never wrestled, but you decide to walk on your college wrestling team.
When the Idea Well is dry, I publish throwback pieces. Going back a bit w/this one. And @MarkTiernan7 is still a WestSideLegend because of what he did 30 years ago.

@LilaGraceRose Commenters: No matter how evil a person was, it's odd-to use just one word-to HOPE he/she is in Hell. What kind of life is being lived by anyone who hopes another person is damned? Christ told us to pray for our enemies. It's hard--like a lot of virtuous things. Do it anyway.
@vikingbeard90@LilaGraceRose Because it's what we are promised if we (truly) repent for our sins, no matter how evil. The alternative is to hope another human being is in Hell, and what kind of life is that to live--hoping someone, anyone, is in Hell?
Final 'Buckeye Insider' of 2025-26 season.
Third year in the books. It's a privilege covering this team. Appreciate the time the wrestlers give whenever asked, and very much appreciate the time and candor @Buckeye158 offers in every single interview. https://t.co/fEm18FfV1R
Buckeyes' coach Tom Ryan reflects on the 'gift' of - and the good that can be culled from - a lopsided loss. Plus, Buckeyes starters return for next week's Big Ten tourney. @Buckeye158 https://t.co/EjJI2PxXNq
Members of the 2025-26 wrestling Buckeyes have had their share of some of life's darkest valleys.
A bond--and a 14-0 record--has resulted.
As always, thanks to @Buckeye158 and the @wrestlingbucks.

@adamtirapelle@dbeshada1 I think someone VERY overlooked in terms of collegiate greatness was Alan Fried. Went to finals every year he was able (3...one of his years, OK State was on probation), 129-6 record, lost to only 2 wrestlers in his career & 5 of his 6 losses were to Tom Brands (who he also beat)
@brick295@coachmjr@CPyles8 College athletes getting paid is in its infancy.
If you think there's zero chance college athletes-even wrestlers-will ever make more than their coaches, cool,
Some of us just follow trend of all other pro sports, which college athletics now is, and we kinda know it'll come.
@brick295@coachmjr@CPyles8 Don't say "never"...you do realize most pro football, baseball and basketball players make more than their coaches, right? Not sure why you don't think college won't be the same some time soon.
College sports aren't amateur anymore.
