@DannyDrinksWine Post 1967 Godard went so far up his own arse with his “essay film” aesthetic that he completely decoupled image from any emotional impact - pretty much denying the image’s most fundamental meaning. It was exhausting.

@TheMonologist It’s not perfect but it has its moments spread out across its run time. It’s kind of “forgotten” because it wasn’t a film of its time, didn’t quite connect with the ideological zeitgeist of 1981. Unlike Bonnie & Clyde or Shampoo.
