This confirms what I and other water activists have been saying for years: Thames Water is ‘environmentally bankrupt’ in the sense that if the law was enforced against them for all the illegal sewage spills they are committing, they would be insolvent.
What other business would dare to tell the government not to enforce the law so they can stay in business? Make no mistake, if the government is craven enough to give into this blackmail, our rivers will pay the price for years to come. Each & every illegal sewage spill needs to be prosecuted to give Thames Water sufficient incentive to get spades in the ground & fix illegal outfalls NOW, not in decades time.

We are joining thousands of other river lovers to attend the March for Clean Water this Sunday (3rd Nov) in London. We want to call on the gov't to take action to deliver clean and healthy rivers. We stand united in our call to stop pollution. Walk with us.
So a few days ago we shared this report on a polluted stream in Northolt. We called @thameswater who responded that they would attend. To be fair to them they usually do. Today I returned to see how things were going…
Fake spiderwebs like these can trap and injure wildlife, including birds, insects and small mammals. They’re made from polyester or other artificial fibres, and aren't recyclable. Please choose eco-friendly decorations if celebrating Halloween!

WE'RE SICK OF SLURRY!
Did you know..
💩Around 62% of our rivers fail standards because of activities related to intensive agriculture
💩2,337 stretches of river are impacted by agri-pollution
💩20% increase in intensive pig & poultry mega farms since 2016
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...

UPDATE: Defra respond – but nature needs action! 🚨🦋
A month has passed since a #ButterflyEmergency was declared, yet @DefraGovUK's response remains vague stating ‘the government is committed to changing existing policies to prevent the use of neonicotinoids.’ 1/4
I'm helping the BBC with a new landmark series on terrestrial invertebrates. If there are any fascinating stories you know of or that you're working on, please get in touch. Pls RT.
Have you seen a #hedgehog you're worried about?
🦔
Hoglets born late in the season may be old enough to leave their mothers but could be too small to hibernate successfully in winter.
