@MATatBucks So you ignore it?! The SDR is used for public projects, WACC for private ones. Not perfect but certainly better than pretending the concept doesn’t exist. Anyway….merry Xmas and hope come January it makes a bit more sense 🎅 🎄 🍻
@MATatBucks We have but you’ve never admitted that it’s an inflated number that’s wrong to use. Let me check - when you were BCC lead did you use the nominal or discounted value on long term projects? Eg Chiltern lifestyle centre. I think we both know you used the discounted one….i hope :-)
@MATatBucks So when bucks council looks at long term investment projects they look on a nominal basis or they adjust for future inflation? As for not knowing the precise number - of course that’s true but doesn’t take away from the facts everyone (not perhaps BCC) uses one?
@MATatBucks just to check....you want to cut taxes/invest in services now by £34.7bn and it'll be the same impact as the current Chagos deal? or do you actually mean cut taxes/invest over the next 99years by £34.7bn.....which as we both know really is £10bn in today's money
@MATatBucks Sorry Martin, but you are just wrong - it really is basic economics that every business (and council i hope!!) adheres to. Please talk to someone to educate yourself, happy to help! It's really worrying you either don't know or refuse to listen....
@MATatBucks I give up. You wonder why people don’t trust politicians. Nominal values in long term spend is the wrong metric. You discount it back to present values. It’s basic. Anyone with any business knowledge knows that. But you refuse to even listen 🙄🙄
@MATatBucks Omg…. https://t.co/k6cUaBgTqw . Read the 3rd bullet point. Using the nominal value is wrong + no one involved in long terms transactions would use it….. ps I think the deal at 10bn is crazy but I’m fed up with politicians using incorrect numbers…. Pls do better :-)
@MATatBucks goodness me, let me try again.....its 34.7bn in nominal terms....when adjusted for inflation (as all these types of spend should be) it's 10bn.... not defending the deal or the 10bn cost....but stop using the wrong number!!
