I'm reviewing PhD apps this cycle to join us @CANLab_UNL! Students can apply thru neuro or soc/cog, and contribute to our work on emotion, emo reg, fMRI, brain networks. If interested, see our website (https://t.co/ttciyRNq9V) and feel free to reach out with Qs! Please RT!
We'd also like to highlight that Nick (@nickharp1) is giving a talk in the Symposium "What people see in ambiguous facial expressions” at @affectScience! See below for details ✨ #AffectScience2024
We're hiring faculty @UNLincoln's Center for Brain Biology and Behavior (CB3)! Job ads in thread below, reach out to me with any questions and please RT!
New work out - led by @ClaudiaClincha2 with both @tk_lorenz & @profmaitalneta! We found that a more negative bias was associated with greater dysphoric-related PTSD and depression symptoms - suggesting a negative bias may be a risk factor for future sx! https://t.co/fGt3l9tCSI
New meta-analysis out showing the a more positive interpretation/valence bias is linked with higher trait reappraisal: https://t.co/vDiu3KgCh9
Led by @nickharp1 in collaboration yet again with @anderouusberg and Twitter-less James Gross!
New work out with @profmaitalneta ! We assessed valence bias and affective symptoms (depression, anxiety) throughout a mindfulness-based stress reduction program, and found that the degree of change in valence bias corresponded with change in symptoms:

Masks impaired judgments for happy and angry expressions, but not more ambiguous surprised expressions. We then used drift diffusion modeling to look at mechanisms underlying mask-related interference. Check out the paper for more! (2/2)
New work out with @profmaitalneta@PaulaNiedenthal@AndrewLangbehn and Jeff Larsen! We examined the effects of surgical masks and sunglasses on valence judgments of emotional expressions. https://t.co/GPq1K3LA1w (1/2) @SPSPnews
New paper out with new collaborators, @anderouusberg and James Gross, and old, @nickharp1 and @ClaudiaClincha2! We examined the link between valence bias (i.e., interpretation of emotional ambiguity) and emotion regulation (1/2)

In our latest #PocketScience: Research from @profmaitalneta & @nickharp1 points toward the value of sharing positive emotional experiences amid isolating circumstances — even the early stages of a pandemic. @unlcas @UNLPsych

Previous graduate student Nick Harp (@nickharp1) will be presenting “Valence Bias: The Role of Positive and Negative Responses” at Poster Session 3 on Saturday!
Loved writing for @SPSPnews’s Characters & Context about my work at @UNLincoln measuring valence bias in intergroup judgements of facial expressions: https://t.co/jtqaPJwAAM Thankful for the insight and support of my wonderful collaborators @profmaitalneta@nickharp1 @IngridHaas
