A8 – There are many followers but not enough leaders who can direct our energy in the right way. And the polarization of opinions on many topics can lead to an us vs them mindset that limits progress on topics like #sustainability that require everyone’s contribution. #RRAchat
A7 – An open and inclusive culture encourages healthy debate on the issues of the day, whether #sustainability or the #futureofwork. People vote with their feet and will leave those organizations that stifle communication. #RRAChat
A6 – The problems we have created will take time, effort and creativity to fix. We need leaders who see themselves as catalysts, who pass the baton to the next generation of leaders to maintain the momentum. #RRAchat
Agree @TamaraMcCleary. Many I speak to believe there is a Say/Do gap. The #disconnect is in degree of effort behind such initiatives, not around whether people believe it is important. The sense of urgency seems much higher amongst people below company leadership roles. #RRAChat
A5. There is often a disconnect when leaders direct the company to make #ESG, #diversity and #sustainability changes, yet fail to instill a true passion for the changes and don't follow up on progress made. Box checking exercises rarely move people to change. #RRAChat
A4 – People watch what you do, not what you say. Leaders demonstrating behavior consistently and regularly sends the right signals. Reward and recognize small successes. Give champions a platform. #WalkTheTalk#rrachat
Completely agree @AllyBunin that we need leadership, which is decision making in times of uncertainty and lack of concrete data, and evidence in our own organizations of progress #RRAchat
Leaders must show commitment to advancing tangible change inside their companies. That means changing employee behaviors, #DEI programs, business travel, #culture. It’s HARD and often with slow data to show ROI. #leadership#ESG#RRAchat
@RRAonLeadership A3 - Build #coalitions to multiply personal conviction. Engage with people within and outside the organization to leverage capability and credibility. Keep energy high to maintain momentum through obstacles and doubt. #RRAchat
A2a – All change is difficult and each person’s definition of #sustainability is slightly different so leaders need to help everyone get a common understanding first, then align them on how to address the issue. #rrachat
