Absolute Green Lantern continues to impress. The way this issues handles concepts from Absolute Martian Manhunter feels like it’s genuinely building on and exploring these ideas rather than just point and cheer easter eggs
His sins haunt him and permeate through his subconscious and into his work. He’s constantly trying to tell himself that it’s ok and he’s not irredeemable and we all have to hear about it
@dillfem101 amazing art and genuinely funny implication here that Chiaki is considered one of the most evil people in the galaxy by indigo lantern standards
Tom king wrote both the villains in lanterns as extremely obvious outlets for his guilt over his actions during the Iraq war, and he wrote hal as a vessel for his own passive suicidality. All of this at the expense of the adaptation itself. I will never understand the glaze
the greatest Green #Lanterns of all time died at the hands of a single mother in a flyover state,
our only black Green lantern is doing freestyles with the Oath
white woman up 300 bands in “reparations”
cop gets away with shooting an unarmed civilian
leader of the FEAR Corps afraid of fear water
teenager with genocidal ideations is on the loose
John’s Lantern uniform is a bomber jacket with dickies pants
Guy “Stand up to Superman” getting punked by a nigga with no lantern experience
and niggas still want a season two #WeGood
to dumb it down a lot, there are 3 core tenants to deadlock’s design/“vibe”, and character designs usually hit at least 2 of these, or at least hit 1 really hard:
occult
40’s-60’s
New York
Danny hits most of these far more comfortably, not to say Violet doesn’t at all but still
idk if this is a hater take but i feel like deadman danny doesn't rly fit the vibe of deadlock at all. even other goofy characters like viscous(his icon not his ugly neon prime model) fit the world and tone of the game way better to me
I don’t like James Gunn as head of the dcu purely because every character he’s adapted so far has had something major about them stripped away and replaced with something “new and exciting”
