@succhan627 I’ve been an English teacher for 10+ years… And I speak Poker. Let me know if you wanna meet up for a lunch in Vegas or something and plan a course of study!
@GordonRamsay Please tell the staff at your pub in Caesar’s Palace Las Vegas that it’s OK to turn the sound on for World Cup matches. Especially England matches.
@GoatMo_ This is a corollary to the INCREASED likelihood of massive goal differentials between world class teams, and DEI (undeserving) teams who are only in the tournament under the expanded format. @MsMelChen
This take is absolutely spot on. Fundamental enshittification, on the level of the structure on the tournament, and on the minute-to-minute level of the transparently commercial “hydration breaks”. My 20 bucks a month YT subscription to FOX One just for this tournament, doesn’t even broadcast the (unprecedented?) halftime shows. I have to imagine FIFA has been in contact with the broadcasters, telling them “don’t refer to the periods of play as quarters!” I hadn’t even considered how it warps game statistics, (which is probably the strongest argument for running up the score and rubbing FIFA’s nose in it, more so than the other team’s). “nothing personal, but you don’t belong here, someone has made a mistake.” Multiple 15-0 games, in the group stage, let’s go.
…I also agree with the (vindictive) take of “we can never let a country like Qatar Host the World Cup again”. It’s a rare moment of North American infrastructure (and American culture) shining on the world stage, I love seeing the post of foreigners, discovering cool American stuff. Jesus they wanted Biden to be president right now. ✌️,❤️, war, and ⚽️.
