"Which nobody really read" stfu. The story was portrayed to reflect a skewed 21st century narrative instead of real history. It's an epic that exists to illustrate complex ideas to Ancient Greeks. Learn some history, seriously. It's not some fantasy story. The Greeks used the Mythos as a tool for explaining complex ideas and discoveries. And they tainted it to lose value on purpose. So much that wasn't included.
