Inspected the desilted Kwa Kiloo Dam in Mukunike sub-location, Kangundo West Ward, which is now providing a reliable source of water for more than 1,300 households across seven villages.

To further enhance access to clean water, we will undertake water reticulation to ensure more residents benefit directly from this vital resource.

The dam, which we stocked with more than 10,000 fish fingerlings, is creating new opportunities for aquaculture, and I was delighted to see young people actively engaging in fishing. Beyond fish farming, the reliable water supply is supporting agricultural activities by enabling residents to grow a variety of crops, strengthening food production and improving household livelihoods.

For more than four decades, Maluva Dam remained largely underutilized. Today, following its rehabilitation, it is transforming livelihoods by supporting fruit cultivation, creating employment opportunities, and boosting household incomes across the area.

I am delighted to witness the transformation of maternal and child healthcare at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital through this expanded Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Unit.

This modern facility is designed to provide safe deliveries, timely emergency obstetric services, specialised newborn care, and quality postnatal support in a well-equipped and dignified environment.

It is an important investment that will improve health outcomes for mothers and children while easing access to essential healthcare services for families in Kangundo and the surrounding communities.

Recognizing the critical importance of surface water harvesting in our dry regions, where rainfall is often insufficient and unpredictable, we successfully desilted the Kwa Mwavu Earth Dam in Kola Ward.

With a capacity of 1,200 cubic meters, the dam continues to serve as a vital source of water for residents of Katanga, Mbusyani, and Makongo villages. It supports domestic water needs, small-scale irrigation, livestock rearing, and food production, thereby contributing significantly to local livelihoods.

Continued investment in water harvesting infrastructure remains essential for building climate resilience, strengthening food security, and improving the socio-economic well-being of our communities. Through such initiatives, we are helping ensure sustainable access to water and creating opportunities for increased agricultural productivity and economic growth.

To enhance access to quality healthcare services for residents of Kalama Ward, I have officially commissioned Makakoi Dispensary.

The dispensary is set to serve over 10,000 residents of the area by bringing essential healthcare services closer to them. It will also improve access to primary healthcare, reduce the distance and cost of seeking medical services from far away facilities, enhance maternal and child health services, and strengthen overall community health.

This reaffirms my commitment to making healthcare services accessible to all residents and ensuring that every community has access to quality, affordable, and reliable healthcare closer to their homes.

To create a clean, safe, and conducive working environment in our towns across Machakos County, we have begun the exercise of laying cabro paving blocks, clearing drainage systems, and unclogging culverts to improve accessibility, enhance stormwater flow, and promote sanitation.

This initiative will help prevent flooding, improve public health, protect infrastructure, enhance mobility for pedestrians and motorists, and create a more attractive environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Officially commissioned the Syuuni River Drift in Kalama Sub-County.

The drift connects Muthumo and Miwani areas within Kiitini sub-location, improving mobility and access across the two communities.

This project is expected to enhance safe river crossing, reduce travel time, especially during rainy seasons, improve access to schools, health facilities, and markets, strengthen local trade and economic activities, and improve overall connectivity and safety for residents.
