We’re expanding in Miami, with Austin, Atlanta, Houston and the SF Bay Area up next. Soon we'll cover 1,400+ square miles across 11 cities. We’re helping more people get around safely and seamlessly.
Flying from @flySFO to @iflymia yesterday was my most seamless trip yet – starting and ending my journey with @Waymo! I appreciated a few extra quiet moments to wake up during my early morning ride, and the ability to take in the glitter of #Miami after landing. Coast to coast, I relied on our fully autonomous Driver to navigate the freeway, busy airports, and city traffic to keep me on the move stress free, and I look forward to enjoying Magic City over the next few days!
We’re ready for takeoff! ✈️ Starting today, Waymo employees can take fully autonomous rides to and from @flySFO. ✨ Stay tuned for public rides coming soon!
Waymo is coming to SFO! The airport has approved a pilot permit to begin autonomous rides. This rollout will happen in phases—and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way until anyone can request a @Waymo ride right from @flySFO.
We’re cleared for takeoff at @FlySJC! 🛫 We’ll soon begin fully autonomous testing at the airport ahead of offering commercial rides later this year. https://t.co/mPgVZpJzAc
Ride to more places in the Bay and LA. ✨ Starting today in SF, with new areas coming to LA later this week. Download the Waymo One app to see our new service areas.
By welcoming Waymo to Market Street, we’re adding another safe and sustainable way to access shopping, theaters, hotels, and restaurants.
This is about revitalizing downtown and making it easier for everyone, locals and visitors alike, to enjoy everything our city has to offer, whether they're taking Muni, a taxi, or Waymo.
Waymo's rides have ramped way faster in Austin than prior city launches.
By the end of its first month, Waymo facilitated ~20% of Uber rides within its Austin operating zone.
Two key differences vs earlier city launches:
1. No waitlist or slow roll. Waymo is launching with more confidence.
2. In Austin, Waymo is only available on Uber, where ~2/3 of city rideshares already happen. Just tap UberX or Comfort, and you're in. Prior city launches required downloading the Waymo One app.
Whether that existing app distribution matters long-term is unclear. In SF, the standalone Waymo One app continues to gain share vs Uber and Lyft and now accounts for 25%+ of rides in its zone.
But Austin shows there is no doubt that Uber's distribution is a turbocharger at market entry.
Uber runs fleet ops - a critical service - and is the first rideshare partrner with the driver of the future.
Congrats @Uber@Waymo for an awesome start in Austin!

SPOTTED: Is that a Waymo at SFO? 👀 It sure is!
This month, @Waymo began controlled mapping of the roads around #SFO, with drivers onboard assisting the process. It’s the first step in bringing the service to the airport! ✈️
We’ve made millions of miles of memories over the past 15+ years, but today is special. We’re returning to where the journey began, gradually opening our doors to our first public riders in Mountain View, Los Altos, Palo Alto, and parts of Sunnyvale.
