People don't understand the problems genz is going to face. Many of the older generations I have spoken to don't even know what "buy now pay later" is. Most people do not understand the debt that genz is facing. 68% of genz is in debt 38% have over $50,000 in debt. Is there some fault in the people who took the loans and credit without understanding it? yes. But our generation has been targeted by predatory student loans. Predatory credit card lenders. Worst of all the new "buy now pay later lenders". We are also victims of the failed teachings of our parent generations. Most people's parents know nothing and teach their kids nothing about money, and neither did our schools. How is it OK that when a 18 year old graduates high school, he/she doesn't even know how to file their taxes,balance a checkbook, or how credit cards work. Most don't even know what the stock market is. Then, our whole life, we are told we will amount to nothing and be failures if we don't go to college by our teachers and parents even though most of them didn't go themselves. We are then pressured frome the age of 16-18 to pick what we want to do for the rest of our life and then take out large student loans at high interest rates. often without help from our parents even though they are the ones shoving it down our throat. Then, when you get out of college and can't find a entry level job in the industry you studied for because you don't have 5 years of experience. you have to settle for a job paying 20$ an hour or less just to survive. Most end up getting credit cards or using "buy now pay later" to buy groceries. Then, when we complain that something is wrong with this system, we are told we are told that we are lazy and not working hard enough or that we need to pull ourselves up by the boot straps. Even though many of us work 2 or 3 jobs 60 hours a week just to pay for food and rent. while past generations plunge our country into more and more debt to prop up their way of life and put up more walls and regulations to prevent us from competing. You may just dismiss all of us as a lazy stupid generation, but this is the reality of what most of us deal with year after year. I personally have no loans or debt, but I have talked to hundreds of genz and people my age that do, and they don't understand the economy or the financial system because they were never taught.
