@kpatton @sykesdotcom Yeah I agree the georep setup for App Service could be way simpler. GRS for storage is "auto failover" in that if a data center outage occurs, Microsoft will initiate the fail over. Self-initiated fail over is in preview now and RA-GRS allows access in 2nd region w/o failover.
@kpatton @sykesdotcom For many services its already possible to deploy in a primary region and have auto fail over with geo redundancy. ASR does this for VMs, storage has this in GRS tier, SQL DB has georep, CosmosDB too, etc. You still need to plan for each service in your solution though.
