Plan a peaceful protest that would inconvenience motorists: five years in prison.
Motorist drives without insurance, hits seven-year-old boy, leaves him to die at the scene. Fourteen weeks suspended.
I have no words.

#29: Know My Name by Chanel Miller. One of the very best books I've read all year. An incredible retelling of the trauma of sexual assault and the utter inadequacies of systems that should support victims. Gripping, emotional (I teared up multiple times), brilliant.
#28: Net Positive by Paul Polman and Andrew Winston. A manifesto for what business should be. Written by former Unilever CEO, it's pretty Unilever centric, but packed full of interesting examples and smart frameworks for trying to bring about positive change through business.
If being a progressive is about anything, it’s about a shared sense of humanity and solidarity with anyone who’s been targeted based on their identity, without exception.
It's embarrassing and shameful that it's taken #mufc this long to get to this decision. No other route was ever appropriate or feasible. And even now, it seems to have been largely promoted by excellent reporting from @TheAthleticFC + resulting backlash.
NEW:
🚨Manchester United today announce Mason Greenwood to continue career elsewhere, u-turning on plan communicated by ceo Richard Arnold to executive leadership on August 1. Follows reporting from @TheAthleticFC & backlash by fans, charities & MPs

This feels such a critical part of enabling those seeking refuge to build a new life. Would love to see it come to fruition in NY to act as an example for elsewhere, including here in the UK.
Asylum seekers currently in New York are ready to work, and employers are ready to hire them.
We need a special federal work authorization to make it happen.
