@alethia__23 absolutely. but the church condemning abuse didn’t stop many men from abusing, but the church condemning divorce did stop many women from divorcing. i wish they could have left those situations. i’m glad they can now

@alethia__23 there are plenty of examples in biblical text and in subsequent theological scholarship (st augustine cough cough) but one real life example is my grandma had to stay in a marriage with an abusive alcoholic for decades because of the Church’s views on divorce
