@LivvyParrot Hi Livvy! I’m a reporter working on a story, and I’d love to DM you but I can’t because of the lovely new changes in Twitter. Would you be able to follow me back so I can shoot you a message?
Thank you so much! Hope you’re having a wonderful day so far.
@shesgonestella Hey there! I’m a reporter working on a story and wanted to DM you, but unfortunately, I can’t because of new Verified permissions (thanks, Elon!). I sent you a message on Insta, but if it’s more convenient, I can chat on here if you follow me back.
Thanks so much!
I’m only keeping Twitter up until I can transfer over all my contacts from the past 10 years on here, so I’m not giving El*n M*sk more than this. I posted more on Instagram today, though. 🎉

The loss of BuzzFeed News is big. There are vanishingly few places that have the resources to support investigative journalism on LGBTQ+ lives. I worry about what happens as the publications that invest in that work disappear and all we have left is faux-centrist concern trolls.
@QueerMoneyPod That's not their fault. Advertising revenue is tough to come by because brands only care about investing in LGBTQ+ people once a year, rather than supporting us the 11 months they don't get a shiny float. It's all very complicated, and days like today make it much worse.
If you take anything away from this rant, it's that we need more publications to replace what we lost in BuzzFeed News: media that will invest in queer stories, that believe queer people have stories to tell.
Start building those platforms right now, today.
I'm going to go back to not giving Elon Musk traffic. But I started working on a book last year because there were so few opportunities for full-time employment. I finish in July, and this book has put me in a big financial hole. I have no idea what will be waiting for me after.
