The CWRU Department of Biology is recruiting! We are looking for someone who asks fundamental questions in eukaryotic microbiology, especially environment/microbiome or host/microbiome interactions. Apply here: https://t.co/bxkgPGy6BM
New preprint from the lab in collaboration with the Stern lab looking at what happens to meiosis when you put an inversion into a species that doesn't normally have them!
Analysis of meiotic recombination in Drosophila simulans shows heterozygous inversions do not cause an interchromosomal effect https://t.co/r0sg5Ighwv #biorxiv_genetic
My amazing colleague Lesley Weaver of @IUBiology aka @FlyOvaryLab giving the plenary lecture and giving a moving introduction on her origin story. Paying it forward. Soon launching into the science. #Dros23
How does the biological sex modify an essential molecular trait? Elated to share my latest work on

@katiebillmyre @DNAdevotee@mei_newt@JessFellmeth@kimstewartmckim I use my copy of the red book Scott gave me on a daily basis I think. For new people in lab, I have them read the workers united chapter and this Fly Book chapter. https://t.co/XaKGZSMJ7B
Day 2 of the Stanford Genetics Conference on Structural Variants and DNA Repeats starts soon! Excited to hear @KathleenHBurns , Alice Lee, @euanashley , @nicolecrown2, and Liz Kwan #SVAR22 Register for free @ https://t.co/woFc9X9qeG

This summer, @kimstewartmckim’s lab hosted Joe Terry, a grad student from @nicolecrown2’s lab at @cwru. Joe used confocal microscopy to image meiosis I oocyte spindles in flies to determine how chromosome crossovers impact segregation of the 4th chromosome.
