@MarcBesselink Not routinely, just selected cases (suspicious CT finding or high CA19.9 at diagnosis). 80% of our PDAC patients receive long course neoadjuvant chemo, rate of open-close / palliative surgery very low (about 5%).
But I agree that we probably should do more based on the data.
More outstanding work from @nicpecorelli on recovery after distal panc- important benefit of MIS but significant proportion still not recovered 6 months postop- More work to do to measure and improve recovery after surgery @SAGES_Updates #sages2023
@SAGES_Updates HPB and solid organ committee. One of most active, innovative, passionate group, and committeeI’ve ever worked in. Truly a privilege to be part of. Two hour meeting, and every single second was packed with discussion on a wide range of topics. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 @asbun_hj thx
@SyedAAhmad5@SurgJournal@SWexner@juliomayol We are only culturing stented patients. Based on detected microorganisms after an internal audit with infectious disease we changed our antibiotic prophylaxis in stented patients from cefazolin to amoxicillin-clavulanate
@rbarbosa91 We call it the Mickey Mouse as well. Great aid in open duct to mucosa pancreatic anastomosis for small ducts. Avoid catching opposite side wall with the needle.
@ksoreide@BJSurgery Such sad news. The world of surgery loses a great guy, one of the fathers of ERAS @ErasSociety with @OlleLjungqvist and the late Ken Fearon. Always active and helpful with young surgeons. He will be missed.
