I'm floored to share I was selected as co-winner of the first Gunpowder Press Latinx Chapbook Prize! My chapbook LEVITATIONS will be published in a bilingual English/Español edition by @GunpowderPress in April 2022! https://t.co/7hu95qdKVH
Today we welcomed @tonyreali back to the show! In FaceTime he shared his feelings about his recent loss, his recent addition, and how he's getting through it all.
Two years ago this month I checked out of a psych ward. I wish I’d told more people. Months later, while hearing of my embarrassment, beloved @processdaily said, “A psych ward is a place, K.” That idea was so expansive that it created this meditation in @CortlandReview
@bomani_jones Glad #TheRightTime is back! Was dying laughing in my car when you all were introducing the Tyson Bagent sound and I knew what was coming.
"Birds are amazing because they’ll tell you what’s going on in the environment..."
Really love that birds are the way into this story. What are we if not interdependent?

He wants to say I love you, nothing can hurt you
but he thinks
this is a lie, so he says in the end
you're dead, nothing can hurt you
which seems to him
a more promising beginning, more true.

As a person formerly sentenced to LWOP. I know firsthand that rehabilitation is possible. There are many more people like me who could make our communities better by coming home. Read why life without parole needs to end.

Poet @SaraBorjas3 is haunted in the same way I am—a disembodied sense of unbelonging in the afterlives of colonization, of having practices and memories we can never claim, grief that we will never be claimed. "Decolonialish Self-Portrait" is about that stranding, apt for today.
"You don't own these jobs. You rent them. They are not yours. Ultimately, no matter how long you are there, you're just passing through"- Doug Herzog
Thank You.
@jduffyrice I think I’ve heard @eveewing quote someone talking about how police exist to protect and shape exclusionary space, keeping people out and away.
Alta California Chapbook Prize Series Editor Emma Trelles told us more about the history of the prize. The previous winners: @nicreiner, @littlebirdsalas, Florencia Milito, and Gabriel Ibarra talked about their experience winning and working with @GunpowderPress
