Gosh that was over quick. 40 minutes of good memories. Little did we know what awaited us when we released a record last feb. But it is immortal and will outlive any pandemic, that’s for sure.
10. In My Head. Think JP had the bones to this, I remember doing some acoustic and it sounding a bit cheesy, so just played one piano note throughout the entire song and it was a vibe. @victoriesatsea
Huge shout out to Simon Weaver wherever you are for harnessing Exit and for making me not blow a gasket in the studio by not going too loud too soon. @victoriesatsea
9. Exit. Oh fuck it let’s just keep going and get louder, Radio 2 are never gonna play us anyway who gives a fuck. I remember welling uo@in the studio when I recorded the tambourine for this track. @victoriesatsea
8. Midnight Song. One of those ‘does it really need anything else?’ Tracks. I think I originally played some bass chords on it but just one of those stripped back bleak numbers. Featuring more of our trusty Danelectro Baritone guitar. @victoriesatsea
7. Ice Data Centre. This one was all Steve and JP and was written after the main bulk of the record was recorded. I turned up one sunny Saturday, smashed the fuck out of some big toms and fucked off. @victoriesatsea
6. Don’t Waste Your Life. We played this live before recording it, one time in Bristol I gave a loop to our sound guy and he bounced it down at the wrong bit rate so was about 4 steps out of tune. We had to stop the track and just played the next one. Disaster. @victoriesatsea
5. Breathe Slowly. I think this was written in Birmingham in the freezing cold. Steve had a loop and I tried to make him loop it in 7/8 in the hope we could go a bit prog, it didn’t work out that way but it’s a mega track. @victoriesatsea
4. Late - we wrote this song after watching @Cristiano demolish Spain in the World Cup and having drunk a load of Tenants lager. Stayed up into the night. Good vibes. @victoriesatsea
3. Quiet House - wrote the hook on a micro korg smooth synth sound but got told it sounded too Los Angeles by the other two. Democracy wins. Still a banger. @victoriesatsea
Doing my best to participate in the @victoriesatsea album stream as I’ve just got back from work. Ha. 1. When The dark, wrote a drum part that was too fast to play once we came to record it. Used a piccolo snare for the first time ever.
