It's not often the world would mourn an umpire/referee, but in the case of Dickie Bird, he was a legend. He made umpires household names. But he loved and lived the game throughout his whole life. Cricket was his family. May he rest in peace and his legend live on...
It is with profound sadness that The Yorkshire County Cricket Club announces the passing of Harold Dennis “Dickie” Bird MBE OBE, one of cricket’s most beloved figures, who died peacefully at home at the age of 92.
Unbelievable turn of events by the Reform administration. If you’re serious about governing, you can’t just talk to journalists who are positive toward you! Notts Live and LDRS are about the only outlets who report on local politics, so they are vital for public engagement…
This move is just another step taken by Reform in Nottinghamshire to prevent scrutiny of their policies and actions. Another step taken by them to shut down debate and democratic representation. Agree with Nigel or be muted seems to be their only policy!
My statement below👇🏻
Out early this morning for a couple of hours watching the regional county ladies matches being hosted at @CoxmoorGC - the course was looking in fabulous condition. All credit to the greenstaff and the clubhouse and pro staff for putting on another excellent showcase of our club.
Well I’m lost for words. It’s actually quite upsetting. These are the people who have at their fingertips the power to spend hundreds of millions of £ at the stroke of a pen. Not only is he clueless, he thinks it’s funny. I don’t! What have they been doing for the last 7 wks??
I’m sure he’s a nice guy who cares.
But this is Reform’s Cabinet Minister for Economic Development in Nottinghamshire.
Would you trust him to run your public services?
When I was in the Education portfolio at Notts County Council with @CllrSamSmith we did a lot of work on this and warned that this is exactly what would happen. Sadly, we're being proved to be right. Sad because this effects so many new and existing state pupils & their familes
Yes we opposed it. It’s a TERRIBLE policy.
It has forced schools to shut, sending 1000s of pupils into state schools that are now struggling for space, teachers and money you didn’t account for.
And you said 'every penny' would go into state schools... but now it’s housing?
Reform didn't attend our @nottslive county council hustings this week.
Listening to @BBCNottingham's hustings this morning, Reform again aren't attending.
Last year, @nottslive hosted five general election hustings and Reform were not at any.
Politics aside, this isn't on.
Sad to hear of the death of Pope Francis. May he rest in peace. And may those who mourn his loss find comfort in his many acts of kindness during a lifetime of devotion to the church
Pope Francis spent his final Easter yesterday bearing witness to the faith he devoted his life to — a quiet presence at a time when the world needed humility, courage, and conviction.
His death on Easter Monday feels especially poignant. He reminded us that leadership isn’t about power, but about service. When I met him in 2022, he spoke warmly of the UK and the values we share. In a world that too often turns away from faith, he stood firm. May he rest in peace.
I sincerely hope that the government recommit to funding these school building projects, in particular for @GaribaldiSchool here is Mansfield East, where I’m proud to serve as a school governor.
At @NottsCC we’re investing £90+m on the creation of extra school places & £38.5m on school building improvements.
@Ben_Bradley_32 & I have today written to @educationgovuk for confirmation that the new Government is committed to funding additional school building projects👇🏻
I was delighted to visit the Rushcliffe Spencer Academy last week in my role as Deputy Cabinet Member for Education. The new provision is going to be fantastic and gives a welcome boost to school numbers in the West Bridgford area…
📚 👷🏻 Rushcliffe Spencer Academy multi-million-pound expansion project
Councillor Sam Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and SEND visited the new site at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy that will help create additional school places.

I'm absolutely appalled at what Farage has suggested re: Ukraine. The West didn't provoke Putin to invade Ukraine, it was his own insecurities that led him down that dangerous path of invasion...
A heartwarming afternoon hearing from children and young people with care experience and the outstanding support they’ve received from education professionals across Nottinghamshire at our Virtual School conference @NottsCC_VS
