If we mandated solar on the 1.5m homes the government has committed to, that could create a further 6GW of capacity.

They say they want to cut costs but fail to clearly explain how a Conservative gov would achieve the one thing that would truly do this for the long term. Unlocking abundant home grown, cheap renewables to power our country, unleashing us from global fossil fuel markets.

The Conservative manifesto’s energy plan is not surprising — they have been committed to new oil and gas while leaving the blockers on cheaper renewables for some time. But that doesn’t make it any less disappointing.

@ELPinchbeck @tmlbk Well said. I know @GoodEnergy makes mistakes, but we own up to them and correct them. I would certainly challenge the current government to match our five star @Trustpilot rating and commitment to avoid greenwashing. Do better or get out of the way.

It makes no sense to be pronouncing new gas generation when we are still recovering from the shock of the UK’s unique exposure to global gas prices. Let alone when the UK’s cheapest source of power, onshore wind, is effectually blocked.
