The whole time I played I thought I was doing zero damage and dragging behind everyone. Apparently I had the most kills and damage. I can’t tell what’s happening with these 3d graphics I’m sticking to ASCII games
@NoGodButMacias I do agree somewhat, though the main point I made against the meme was that the “four occupations” were not related to a caste system at all. Imperial China did have quite a rigid social strata, but it was an entirely separate thing from the four professions.
Mr. Chin added context: Not a caste system. This is a list of "The four occupations" in ancient China, which is based on professions and not hereditary. It's not even a socioeconomic ranking. The one listed here on the bottom of the pyramid is the wealthiest in most cases.
@ardraserene You’re right, they didn’t have surnames, they had clans.
Why are you being so disingenuous? I mentioned the digha nikaya because it’s partially historical, but I could certainly find other suttas and documents from this period which mention the existence of the caste system.
@ardraserene But there are much older sources which suggest otherwise. There’s a sutta in the Dīgha Nikāya (400 BC - 100 BC) which deals with caste. In it, a Brahmin’s lineage is called into question and likewise his right to debate and carry out religious rites is as well.
