Two people invest $500 a month. One puts in $60,000. The other puts in $180,000.
The one who put in less ends up with more.
I ran it to see how much starting 10 years late really costs.
Same $500 a month. Same 7% a year. The only difference is when they start.
Anna invests from 25 to 35. Then she stops. Forever. Total put in: $60,000.
Ben waits. He starts at 35 and invests every single month until 65. Total put in: $180,000.
At 65, Anna has $651,045.
Ben has $584,726.
Ben put in three times as much money and still finished $66,000 behind.
The strange part: Ben never catches up. Not at 45, not at 55, not at 65. He works 30 years and loses to someone who stopped after 10.
Every $1 Anna put in became $10.85.
Every $1 Ben put in became $3.25.
Her first 10 years did more work than his entire 30, because her money had 30 extra years to compound.
To be fair to Ben: at 25 most people have no spare $500. Starting at 35 with real money beats waiting until 45.
But the cheapest year to start is always the one you're in.
When did you start investing, or are you still waiting?

the AI money nobody sells you: being the one who checks.
which one should i break down next?
@0xwhippa Fair enough. A redacted forensic report would be great.
iPhone model, iOS version, network logs showing the 30GB transfer, and evidence linking it to the SIM.
No personal data needed. If you can prove this, it's a huge story.
@elixlune 81 previously unknown Firefox vulnerabilities?
That's a massive claim. I'd love to see the technical report.
The scary part isn't AI finding bugs. It's what happens when attackers get the same tools.
@_Nex0ra Everyone's looking at the $500K salary.
I'm looking at the fact that you don't need an ML background.
Imagine the next AI breakthrough coming from someone who never trained a model. π
