Why do Japanese stores yell いらっしゃいませ nonstop?
It's not for you. It's loss prevention.
Staff calling out = "we see you" to shoplifters. The louder the store, the lower the theft rate.
Lost something in Japan? Don't panic 😰
Japan has a 90%+ lost-and-found return rate. Seriously.
(sumimasen, 〇〇 wo nakushimashita)
"Excuse me, I lost my 〇〇"
Go to:
・駅(えき)のお忘れ物センター (eki no owasuremono sentaa) = station lost & found
I once left my wallet on a train in Osaka. Got it back 2 hours later with all the cash inside. This country is unreal.

The difference between people who study Japanese and people who actually speak it? A system and someone in their corner. That's what coaching is. 3 months, custom plan, real progress: https://t.co/Gqr1NxvpUb ほな!🫡
1/ What is shadowing?
Listen to native Japanese audio and repeat it IMMEDIATELY — like a shadow.
Not after. Not "repeat after me." You speak WHILE the audio plays, 0.5 seconds behind.
2/ Why it works:
• Your mouth learns the rhythm of Japanese
• You practice pitch accent naturally
• You stop translating in your head
• It builds speed and confidence
3/ How to do it:
Step 1: Listen to a clip 2-3 times
Step 2: Read the transcript once
Step 3: Shadow WITH the audio (don't pause it)
Step 4: Repeat 5-10 times until it flows
4/ Best sources:
• NHK World Easy Japanese (free)
• Any anime with Japanese subtitles
• Japanese podcasts at your level
10 minutes a day. Every day. You WILL hear the difference in 2 weeks.
Riding the 新幹線(しんかんせん)(shinkansen) for the first time? 🚅
It's not complicated. Promise.
グリーン車(しゃ)(guriin sha) = first class (Green Car)
(kono seki wa aite imasu ka?)
"Is this seat free?"
(tsugi no teishaeki wa doko desu ka?)
"What's the next stop?"
Pro tip: Don't talk on the phone. Don't eat smelly food. Recline your seat slowly. Japanese train etiquette is sacred 😂
Also: the shinkansen is ALWAYS on time. If it's 1 minute late, you'll get a formal apology letter. Not joking.

In Tokyo, バカ (baka) = "idiot" — and it's offensive.
In Osaka, アホ (aho) = "idiot" — and it's a term of AFFECTION 😂
= "Are you dumb?" — but said with love
「アホか!」(ahoka!) = "You're an idiot!" — but your friends are laughing
The rule:
• In Osaka: アホ = friendly, バカ = serious insult
• In Tokyo: バカ = lighter, アホ = serious insult
Completely reversed. Same country. Different vibes.
If someone in Osaka calls you アホ with a grin, congratulations — you've been accepted.
If someone in Tokyo calls you バカ with a grin... also probably fine. Context is everything in Japanese.

Weather small talk works in EVERY language ☀️
(kyou wa ii tenki desu ne)
"Nice weather today, isn't it?"
More:
・暑(あつ)いですね (atsui desu ne) = "It's hot"
・寒(さむいですね (samui desu ne) = "It's cold"
Pro tip: Adding ね (ne) to the end of weather comments is essential. It means "right?" and invites agreement. Without it, you sound like a weather report 😂

Beginner tip: Just learn たら first. It covers 80% of situations.
