@ShowMeASignBryn There used to be a sign on the approach from the southbound A194(M) onto the A1(M) saying "Motorway merges ยฝmile". I presume that was a mistake! I think it has been removed now and replaced with a "merge onto" triangular sign.

@ShowMeASignBryn But doesn't the old sign at least give the driver an indication of the road layout coming up, whereas the new sign only describes the immediate junction? And then the driver is unaware of having to look on the right side to see the sign further on? Great to here the rationale!
