The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cancelled the drug sales licences of Cipla Pharma & Life Sciences in Pune with effect from August 27. The regulatory crackdown follows an inspection and investigation into Reactin Plus Tablets a Schedule H prescription drug, whose packaging carried unauthorized promotional claims labeling it as an "analgesic and antipyretic," which regulators warned could encourage risky self-medication. In addition to failing to fully comply with product recall orders following an ₹11.19 lakh stock seizure in June, inspectors discovered significant storage deficiencies at the company's Pune facility, including medicines stored directly on the floor, alongside discrepancies in stock records.

🇮🇳 India's biggest moment in AI just happened. TCS signed a $1.5 billion deal with Porsche. This is massive.

Here's what happened:

→ TCS is acquiring Porsche's IT consulting arm MHP for $373 million 4,500 employees, €742 million in revenue, 300+ clients

→ On top of that, Porsche signed a 5-year, €1.25 billion deal with TCS to deploy AI across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and customer experience

→ TCS will build a dedicated AI Mobility Centre of Excellence for Porsche

→ This is TCS's third acquisition in under a year. Total M&A past $1 billion in ten months. AI services revenue already at $1.8 billion annually.

Think about what this means. For decades, Indian IT was the back office maintenance, support, cost arbitrage.

Now a German luxury automaker is handing its entire AI transformation to an Indian company. Not as a vendor. As a strategic partner.

Porsche chose TCS over every global consulting firm to run AI across its factories, engineering, and operations. $1.5 billion worth of trust.

Indian IT isn't the back office anymore. It's the AI engine.

AI engineering is no longer just about knowing how to use an LLM.

The model is only one piece of the system.

Once you start building AI applications that actually need to work in production, the stack gets much bigger:

→ LLMs for reasoning and generation
→ RAG for grounding responses in your data
→ Embeddings + Vector DBs for semantic search
→ Agent frameworks for tool use and orchestration
→ MCP for connecting agents with external systems
→ Memory for maintaining context across interactions
→ Observability for understanding what went wrong
→ Security for protecting models, data and tools
→ Automation for turning workflows into actual actions

And then there are dozens of tools competing within each layer.

That's probably the most confusing part of learning AI engineering today.

You don't need to learn every tool in this ecosystem.

You need to understand what problem each layer solves - and then go deep on the tools that fit the systems you're building.

The shift from experimenting with an AI model to building a production-ready AI system is much bigger than most tutorials make it look.

This ecosystem map is a pretty useful reference for understanding what's happening beyond the LLM itself.

FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe says the action followed a verified food-poisoning case, hospitalisations, and laboratory reports confirming that the food samples were unsafe.
Yet the department is penalised for taking action.

If this is how courts respond when a regulator cracks down on unsafe food, who will protect consumers?

Are courts making it easier for food adulteration cases to survive while officials doing their duty are punished?

An Indian engineer in Bengaluru got tired of potholes destroying his car.

So he built an app with Codex that detects them, finds who is responsible, and files a complaint.

Here is how it works. He installed a dashcam with GPS and an accelerometer. The app records everything while he drives.

A vision model classifies every pothole by size. Small, medium, large.

But here is the clever part. Most Indian roads are under warranty.

The contractor who built them is legally responsible for fixing potholes for free.

His app searches through 2,900 government contracts, finds the exact tender number, identifies the officer responsible, attaches the photo and geolocation, and generates a ready-to-file complaint.

One drive to work. 12 potholes detected. 12 complaints ready.
