Okay, after going through everything for the past two hours, this is clearly a CN LADS issue, and as customers, players are allowed to question what they feel is right.

Yes, Love and Deepspace changing its tags may not seem like a big issue to global players, but for CN girlies, it is a big deal. CN fandoms work very differently from global fandoms, and global rules or expectations do not apply there. Otome players especially yumejoshis are often looked down on by male players in CN spaces, and that context is exactly why this became such a serious issue.

I’ve seen many qrts saying things like “imagine being so insecure…”, but this was never about insecurity. It was about clarity. CN players wanted a clear answer on whether the game they are playing actually respects them as its intended audience.

I really want global players to understand this: CN fandom culture is different, and at the end of the day, this is a Chinese game, with Chinese players as its major player base. On the CN side, people are very strict about tags and how games are classified. When a game is labelled female-oriented in CN, it specifically means for female players, unlike global.

Today, the official post used “Miss Hunter” instead of just “Hunter.” That choice wasn’t random. It was clearly meant to regain the trust of their major player base the CN girlies especially after the whole Weibo controversy and the disrespect many players felt there ( I’m still trying to fully understand the case myself).

Again, this is a CN issue. Please don’t jump on the OP or anyone who agrees with the canon.

And no this does not make the game homophobic, nor does it mean the company is homophobic. They are simply following the otome genre framework. HCs are separate from the game. Headcanons exist within fandoms
This is a game issue, not a fandom issue. Players are allowed to ask questions and discuss concerns within their fandom in this case, the CN fandom. Please don’t turn this into a debate about something entirely different. We’ve already seen enough homophobia surface in the fandom because of this just stop.
