Stay mad?.. at tech? ๐
No, it's mostly pity for AI bros.
I love drawing/painting/animating - and I'm sad that you guys will never know that feeling of discovery, of accomplishment - and most of all: MASTERY.
But my pity fails as AI fails: neither will bestow upon you mastery.
@ToxicChudArtist Use AI all you want - you still have my pity.
Especially because a lifetime of using AI will never deliver a masterpiece, let alone a master.
One day we may wish we could return to these debates.
Writers will eventually stop hiring artists in favour of AI, leaving true artists to write their own stories.
Might be for the best - artists tend to underestimate their innate ability to tell stories from their own writing.
Todd's looking at this entirely from a business perspective, which is less than admirable considering he himself once was a struggling artist who was creating a unique vision.
AI destroys art. It destroys the need for artists. There is no reason for anyone to work hard to learn to draw, because now any schmoe can draw a stick figure, ask AI to fix and finish it, and it'll look nearly as good as an Alex Ross painting, if that's the prompt you give it.
You can mass produce fake excellence.
From Todd the Bidnessman, this is great. You can give me 12 covers to choose from in minutes, rather than two covers to choose from in a few days.
For artists and just people who love art made by human beings, which is what defines art, this is awful. Not only will it put creative people out of work, stifle the desire to express oneself thru art, and create a digital centipede of recycled shit, but there's no limit to how fast and efficient it will become. Within two generations, nobody will need to learn to play piano, paint a picture, or write a story.
As if we aren't stupid enough in 2026.
Whenever I win the #4 spot for Rising Hotshot in Warlock Magazine, I assume @Turkey_Robot, @LOGOScomics, and @Kristian_Rossi cheated. I've made my peace with it.
"Forget it, Axe... it's Chinatown."
I said I wasnโt going to do it.
But sometimes everything falls into place and you have to listen that voice in your head pointing you in the right direction.
My next Compass Comics project is aโฆSUPERHERO SERIES!
