Imagine you are out on a vacation, you pay ₹3000 for a hotel, and then you die in a fire. Not an accident but a pre-planned disaster!

This is what happened today in South Delhi's posh Malviya Nagar. 21 people perished inside a hotel named Flourish Stay B&B.

The reason: There was no fire exit. Only one point of entry and exit for guests.

To add to the impending disaster, the hotel had permission to operate 6 rooms. It was operating 25 rooms.

The building did not have a fire NOC as well.

Some guests were charred alive, and others jumped to their deaths from the windows.

21 lives lost. Many of the deceased were foreign nationals who had come to India for medical treatment.

The consolation prize is a ₹2 lakh aid from the government.

And the owner, Lokesh Bajaj, is reportedly absconding!

Again, don't call it an accident.

It was a man-made incident, the groundwork of which was laid many years ago through strategically flouting all possible rules.

No accountability of the police, fire department, municipality, or anyone, as usual.

1. Odisha : Thousands of hectares in the Niyamgiri hills, Panchpatmali Kotagarh, and Sundargarh Keonjhar belts were cleared for bauxite and iron ore projects, including Vedanta's Niyamgiri proposal.

2. Chhattisgarh: Dense sal forests in Bastar and Surguja regions were cleared for iron ore and coal mining projects.

3. Andhra Pradesh & Telangana : Forest blocks in Khammam, Adilabad, and parts of Nallamala Range were razed to the ground for mining and industry.

4. Madhya Pradesh : Substantial tracts in Balaghat, Chhindwara, Betul, and Mandla were cleared for mining and infrastructure.

5. Rajasthan: Forested patches in Udaipur Sirohi Rajsamand belts and parts of the Aravalli foothills were cleared for mining and real estate industrial uses.

6. Jharkhand: Forests in Saranda, Kolhan, and Hazaribagh Chandankiyari belts were cleared for iron ore and coal mining.

7. Himachal Pradesh: Chamba, Kullu, Tehri Nainital belts for development.
