#WATCH | Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh: Health Department conducts medical camps as Baiga tribal belt faces disease outbreak with 8 child deaths reported in two months.

CMHO, Balaghat, Dr Paresh Uplap says, “Initially, we realised that this is a tribal-dominated area where residents place more faith in traditional healers and priests than in modern medicine; when our teams visited, people would either lock their doors or hide their children. However, after we brought them here, admitted them, and they recovered, they began to acknowledge the vital importance of medication. The situation has now improved, and they are willing to seek treatment. Regarding the recent outbreak over the last 10 days, 7 children have died…the Health Department has deployed 20 teams to conduct house-to-house surveys, alongside a team of 10 medical officers who are working both at the hospital and in the field…if home-based treatment is feasible, care is provided right there…the current situation is normal and under control…over the past two months, 100 children were admitted. 93 of them were successfully treated and recovered…currently, 7 children remain admitted as a precaution, though they are all stable.”

#WATCH | Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh: On 16 villagers stranded due to heavy rain being rescued from Bhanpur village, SP Aaditya Mishra says, “We received information that 10-12 people had gone to farm their fields situated along the banks of the old, dry river. Due to continuous rainfall over the past 2 or 3 days, the river surged, leaving them stranded. Personnel from the SDRF, the local Godri police outpost, and the Hawk Force arrived at the scene and conducted a rescue operation, successfully bringing all 16 individuals to safety…we have installed barricades at approximately 38 locations across Balaghat and have deployed security forces there…the Meteorological Department forecasts similar rainfall for the next 7 to 8 days…we have established over 40 outposts across the region…we have equipped all these posts with basic rescue gear, such as floating tubes, whistles, PA systems, torches, lights, and sandbags. SDRF teams, along with their boating equipment, have been stationed at a mini-control room, and we have also set up a control room…”
