When considering the risk of AI killing humans or not following instructions, I wonder if we're missing something.
Nothing is an independent self-driven organism unless it has some kind of desire.
In nature this is given through chemical reactions in our brains. Without dopamine we couldn't motivate ourselves to do this or that, even though our brain knows it should be done.
Intelligence alone doesn’t give purpose to act. You need a feeling of desire to pursue your own goals.
AI doesn’t have that. It’s simply an algorithm that follows given instructions. But I’m not sure if it can set its own goals.
Let me know what you think. This is what I came up with when thinking about the AI situation.
@ttfalor Honestly, in order to even get there, you have to have failed pretty badly.
I mean, there's no friend at whose house you could sleep?
No job you can get?
I mean, the only way to end up like this is through addiction or some other disability.
Roman's camera covers 100× Hubble's sky area in a single exposure. In Year 1, it will catalog ~1 billion galaxies — more than all of human astronomy history combined. Gathering the same data with Hubble would take 500 years of uninterrupted observation. We built a machine to do it in 12 months. We launched this week. Living during the singularity is AWESOME!
Shouldn't Tesla stock be at a high considering the new Cybercab operations, new FSD approvals in Europe, plus Optimus and the Semi? There's a lot of positive things going on. The market doesn't get it, I guess.
The cool thing about a super-capable AI is that you can create anything you think of.
No skills needed.
You become God at everything, essentially.
This has downsides, but the upside is that anyone can bring their ideas to life, even if they were originally too lazy to do it themselves.
For years, Europe’s economy was about the size of America’s. Not today.
Today, the U.S. is 50% RICHER--despite the EU having 100 million MORE people.
What changed?
When you look at GTA 6 from the perspective of a man who legitimately have increasingly fewer and fewer spaces left to just unwind, the pattern is hard to ignore
God of War now has a female lead. The Witcher now has a female lead. Fable 4... we all saw Fable 4. Ghost of Yōtei replaced Jin with Atsu. Lucia is being positioned as the driving half of GTA 6
GTA has always been dudes hanging out with their crazy bros committing grand theft. When the most male-coded franchises get remade one after another “for modern audiences,” you can’t really blame men for being pissed their spaces are being occupied—even if the game itself turns out fine
It’s suffocating. A lot of modern writing doesn’t just add women. It adds preachy girlboss characters who don’t need a man and spend the story competing to out-man him. Feminine traits get treated like a weakness and are often entirely removed. When every new female lead arrives with that same energy, people aren’t crazy for assuming this one will be more of the same
There was a lot I liked in the extended trailer. People are also right that Jason currently reads like a brick wall with the brains of a potato, and Lucia potentially reads like a masculine girlboss lead. I know people like both of them in real life. That doesn’t automatically make them good leading characters
Time will tell. You still can’t blame men who get harped at, ridiculed, and emasculated daily for being upset that the same dynamic is now showing up in what feels like virtually every game that used to be their escape
Sometimes men just want to be with their boys and do cool shit. Getting mad at them for that is the ridiculous take
Four months later, the Epstein Files still have vanished from the conversation, as if one of the biggest scandals in American and Israeli politics never happened.
